PEI Planning Decisions has Launched!
October 12, 2009

Baseline Business Geographics Inc. is pleased to announce that the PEI Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour has officially launched PEI Planning Decisions, an internet and map-based information service for Islanders.  Developed by Baseline, PEI Planning Decisions enables users to search for appealable planning decisions by community name, civic address or property number.  Once a user finds the applicable permit, they are able to click on a map button to see its location.

Prior to the launch of this new E-government service, residents had to inquire to their local or provincial government officials to prepare and provide this data on a case-by-case basis. Both the PEI Supreme Court and the Island Regulatory Appeals Commission stressed the need for the province and the municipalities to find a more effective means of notifying the public about the issuance of building permits and rezoning in recent decisions.  This new service will provide all Islanders with direct access to the information they need, when it’s needed.
