MapAddress is the complete solution for generating and maintaining an automated Civic Address numbering system. If you are implementing an emergency response system for your County, State or Province then this is the system for you. If you need an efficient way to number new sub-divisions then look no further. Ask us for a demonstration copy.
Compatible with almost any data source
MapAddress transforms MapInfo into a fully-featured Civic Address numbering system. The system works on a pair of MapInfo tables: a street file and a points file. Street files can be purchased from us or imported if you already have the data. Point files, which represent houses, farms and other features, can be read from a GPS system, entered on the screen with the mouse, digitized from paper maps or imported from other formats.
One-click house numbering
Once the street and point files are ready, MapAddress has tools to join streets together, reverse the direction of a street and automatically create points at road intersections. A simple click of a button assigns a civic address number to each point.
Add new points - simply
MapAddress is designed to take a pre-generated set of points for numbering. Additional points can be added with a single click on the map, another click and the new point has a civic address. This makes the numbering of new residences, plots and other features extremely simple.
Label intersections - automatically
Street intersections are labelled by selecting a street and clicking a button. Points are automatically generated at the intersection and the new points are given civic address numbers. For example, if Highway 3 intersects with George Street, two points will be generated - one called 'Highway 3 & George Street' and the other called 'George Street & Highway 3'. This allows two civic address numbers to be assigned to the junction, one using Highway 2 numbers and one using George Street numbers. The resulting intersections file can be exported to another system or for printing.
Total control over the process
The numbering process is controlled by a set of editable options. You can place even numbers on the right or left side of a street. You can also specify number spacing to be anything from 1 metre upwards. At any time you can bring back any of the standard MapInfo buttons or add new tables to the map - you have complete control over the system. If you want a street to be numbered starting at a number other than 1, simply enter the starting number in the streets file (This allows for adjacent streets to have consecutive numbering).
Easy to use
The standard MapInfo buttons are removed and the user is presented with a small set of Civic Addressing buttons, all that is needed for the numbering process. Many checks are made to ensure that the correct files are open, datafiles are not inadvertently overwritten and no data is lost.
MapAddress works with MapInfo Professional version 5.0 and above.
Distribute the resulting maps free!
Once you have assigned civic addresses, the maps - complete with viewing software - can be distributed free of charge. A free map viewer allows users to see all the information such as street names, civic address numbers, intersection numbers - and any other data that you want to add - completely free of charge. For details on how to download this free viewer, see the ProViewer page.
An alternative way of making the maps available to geographically dispersed users or the general public is to use MapXtreme. Visit our demonstration map page to see an example of how maps can be viewed on the Internet.
